While not all 2022 Subaru models received testing, nine models achieved the highly-coveted Top Safety Pick (TSP) or TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) awards for their safety performance. Crash Test Criteria
The IIHS has a stringent list of tests they put new vehicles through, ensuring only the safest models receive the TSP and TSP+ awards. These vehicles must obtain a 'Good' rating in all six crash tests, an 'Advanced' or higher rating for crash avoidance, and have 'Good' or 'Acceptable' headlights as a standard feature. Simulating real-world collisions that may occur around Massachusetts, the crash tests that the IIHS runs on each vehicle include:

- Side Crash Impact
- Head Restraints
- Rollover Roof Strength
